What Makes a Rebar Brand the "Best"?
No official body ranks rebar brands. What exists is a standard, SNI 2052, and it applies equally to every manufacturer. The "best" brand for your project is therefore the one that passes the following five checks.
1. A valid SPPT-SNI certificate
An "SNI" label on an invoice or brochure is not enough. Ask for a copy of the SNI Mark Product Certificate (SPPT-SNI) and make sure the manufacturer name, product type, and validity period match the goods delivered. See our certification page for details.
2. Weight that matches the SNI table
This is the cheapest and most honest check. Bars with a reduced diameter (often called underweight or "banci" rebar) are lighter than the table, whatever their price or brand. The reference table is in the next section.
3. A mill certificate for every batch
A mill certificate reports tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation for the batch you receive. A serious manufacturer can provide one with every delivery. We explain how to read it in how to read a rebar mill certificate.
4. Clear markings on the bar
SNI deformed bars generally carry raised markings that identify the manufacturer and the size. Faint, missing, or mismatched markings are a reason to ask more questions.
5. The grade shown on the drawings
A good brand is still wrong if the grade does not match the structural design. Make sure the delivered grade (for example BjTP 280, BjTS 420, BjTS 520, or BjTS 550) matches the working drawings. IWS grades and sizes are listed in our product specification.
SNI Weight Table for Checking Any Brand
Rebar weight follows the SNI formula 0.006165 × d² kg per metre and depends only on diameter. Plain and deformed bars of the same diameter weigh the same, whatever the brand.

Example: Checking One D13 Bar on Site
Suppose you receive D13 deformed bars, 12 metres long. According to the table each bar should weigh 12.50 kg. Weigh one whole bar. If it weighs only 11.00 kg, it is 12.0% lighter, equivalent to a bar of about 12.2 mm, not 13 mm. Assumptions: the scale is calibrated and the bar is cut to exactly 12 metres. Weigh several bars from different bundles so the result is not a coincidence.

Common Mistakes When Choosing a Rebar Brand
- Comparing price per bar instead of per kilogram. A cheaper bar is often simply a lighter bar. Work out the price per kg for a fair comparison.
- Trusting the brand name without checking the goods. Even well-known brands can be counterfeited or mixed at the reseller level. Documents and a scale are still essential.
- Not asking for documents up front. SPPT-SNI and mill certificates should be agreed before ordering, not requested after delivery.
- Ignoring the grade. Choosing the right brand in the wrong grade is as risky as choosing the wrong brand.
